Emergency Department Expansion Underway at Martin County Hospital District

Martin County Hospital District has officially begun construction on an expansion of its Emergency Department, a major investment that will expand capacity, improve patient flow, and strengthen emergency care for Martin County and the surrounding communities. During construction, the Emergency Department will operate with three treatment rooms while work is completed in phases. Although patients may notice construction activity around the hospital campus, emergency care will remain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Construction is underway as MCHD expands Emergency Department capacity while maintaining emergency services throughout the project.

The project will more than double the size of the Emergency Department, increasing capacity from five treatment rooms to eleven. The additional space will improve patient flow, support privacy, and help care teams respond more efficiently during emergencies.

Emergency services will remain available throughout construction. Patients should continue using the Emergency Department as normal when emergency care is needed.

More Space for Emergency Care

Once complete, the expansion will more than double the number of Emergency Department treatment rooms. The added capacity is designed to strengthen care delivery for patients who need timely emergency evaluation and treatment.
