Back-to-School Walk-In Wednesdays provide sports physicals and routine immunizations for students ages 6–18 every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Back-to-school preparation involves more than school supplies and new schedules. Students may also need an updated sports physical, required immunizations or completed health forms before returning to class or participating in athletics.

MCHD Express Care is making those requirements easier to complete through Back-to-School Walk-In Wednesdays. Students ages 6–18 can receive sports physicals and routine immunizations in one convenient location.

Back-to-School Care in One Convenient Visit

Families can use Back-to-School Walk-In Wednesdays to complete two of the most common student health requirements: sports physicals and routine immunizations. Walk-ins are welcome, and scheduled appointments are also available. This gives families the flexibility to choose the option that works best with work, school and summer schedules.

Sports Physicals Help Students Participate Safely

A sports physical helps determine whether a student is physically prepared to participate in school athletics. During the visit, the provider reviews the student’s medical history, previous injuries, medications and any health concerns that could affect safe participation. Families should bring any physical forms required by the student’s school, camp or athletic program so the provider can review and complete the appropriate documentation.

Routine Immunizations Help Students Stay Protected

Routine immunizations are an important part of preparing for the school year. Vaccines help protect students from preventable illnesses and may be required based on the student’s age, grade level and current immunization history.

Families should bring the student’s current immunization record so the Express Care team can review which vaccines have already been received and determine whether any updates are needed.
