A Rural Hospital. A National Spotlight.

Rural hospitals play an essential role in the communities they serve, often navigating challenges related to healthcare access, resources, and the changing needs of their populations.

For Martin County Hospital District, those challenges have also created opportunities to grow, innovate, and expand the services available to patients throughout West Texas.

The All Access production will explore how MCHD continues strengthening rural healthcare through investments in facilities, advanced medical technology, expanded services, and a commitment to providing quality patient care.

The feature offers an opportunity to demonstrate what a small, rural hospital can accomplish through continued investment, forward-thinking leadership, and a dedicated healthcare team.

Behind the Scenes at MCHD

During the September filming, the production crew visited multiple departments throughout MCHD, capturing interviews and footage that highlight the scope of services available within the hospital district.

Filming Included:

  • Emergency Services: Highlighting the teams responsible for responding to emergencies and providing critical care.
  • Family Clinic: Showcasing access to primary care and the services supporting patients throughout the community.
  • Therapy & Rehabilitation: Demonstrating the role of rehabilitation services in helping patients regain mobility, function, and independence.
  • Surgical Services: Featuring the technology, clinical expertise, and expanding capabilities supporting surgical care at MCHD.
  • Additional Patient Care Areas: Capturing the people and day-to-day operations that contribute to the patient experience.

Together, these departments help tell a larger story about the range of healthcare services available in Martin County and the people responsible for delivering them.

Growth, Innovation, and the Future of Rural Healthcare

The filming comes during a period of significant growth for Martin County Hospital District.

Recent investments include the opening of a new Medical Office Building, expanded access to primary and specialty care, advancements in surgical technology, and an ongoing Emergency Department expansion.

These developments reflect MCHD’s continued efforts to strengthen healthcare access and respond to the evolving needs of Martin County and surrounding communities.

The documentary will highlight how investments in technology, facilities, and services are helping position MCHD for the future while preserving the personal attention and community connection that define rural healthcare.

The People Behind the Care

While new facilities, advanced technology, and expanded services are important parts of MCHD’s story, the heart of the documentary is the patient experience.

What sets MCHD apart is not simply the services we provide, but the people behind those services.
